Company XYZ is a little less than you. Why should we use DumpRunner when I could save a few bucks with them? |
We're going to give a long answer here, because we feel this question really hits home on why cunsumers end up choosing DumpRunner in spite of someone else being a few dollars less.
You get what you pay for. Literally.
Price is NOT everything. Anyone can copy another business, discount their services a few bucks and pretend that they're now a garbage company. Unfortunately, not every operator understands the economics of running a viable business. That "cheaper" price means that they're spending less on something...and that something is usually maintenance. Just take a look at some of the trucks running on our roads, and you'll immediately understand what we're talking about. What happens if they have a mechanical breakdown? Is your bin going to sit overflowing for 3 weeks while they scrape together enough money to pay the repair bill?
DumpRunner believes in running a safe company that is in compliance with the law, and one that provides for the well being of it's employees. To that end, we have reinvested heavily in new trucks, roll off bins and equipment to give our employees the proper tools to do their jobs. We're also extremely picky about who works for us. Our employees are top grade, and we compensate them very well for their efforts. The end result is that we have a safe team, safe trucks, and an effective company.
More importantly, a company has to be sustainable, and be able to grow in order to prosper. To support that infrastructure over the long term requires continual reinvestment of capital to maintain and improve upon their service offering. DumpRunner has every intention of not becoming just another failed business statistic.
So here's the bottom line:
The lowest price is useless if that company is out of business the following week (and we've seen it happen). DumpRunner has always believed in providing VALUE to our clients. Our prices are fair and equitable, but our service is high. |
|
Okay, but I'm still confused about rates in the waste industry. The prices seem all over the map.
How do I know I'm getting a fair deal? |
An excellent question. Some companies will give you what appears to be a very low price...until you get your final bill! That low price might only be for the dropoff of a bin. Then you get hammered for a pickup, daily rental fees, weight charges, fuel surcharges etc. (We've even been told of companies that won't give you a copy of the scale ticket when customers have questioned their weight charges!)
On the other hand, DumpRunner's rates are up front and easy to understand. Nothing is hidden. With us, you pay ONE price for your dropoff, pickup, and bin rental. Plus,we INCLUDE a very generous landfill weight allowance in that rate. In the event your bin exceeds the included weight allowance, DumpRunner will simply pass on the landfill charges.
And yes...if you require a copy of the scale ticket, we will fax a copy upon request. |

How big are your containers? |
12 Cubic Yards and 20 Cubic Yards. We have additional information under the menu heading "About Us". |
|
Where can your bins be placed? |
The combination of our specialty trucks, our hooklift design, our operator skills and our bins has enabled DumpRunner to perform some very tricky drops that conventional cable equipped roll off trucks just could not manage. Ideally, we prefer to drop on level ground as a first choice, but we have experience placing containers just about everywhere. As always, safety is paramount, and our experienced truck operators have the final say on whether a special request drop is feasible. If we can do it safely, we'll get it done! |
|
My driveway is exposed aggregate concrete.
Is that OK? |
Generally, yes. We prefer to drop our containers onto wood to protect the finished aggregate surfacing. Please call our office at the time of booking for details. |
|
What are your payment options? |
Visa and Mastercard are the preferred payment options for most clients. Qualified contractors and businesses may also be eligible for terms. Call for details. |
|
What items are restricted in containers? |
There are some restrictions on what items can be placed in containers. Please see the section titled "Landfills and Restricted Items" under the menu heading "Our Services" |
|
Are your containers watertight? |
No. Our containers are equipped with a drainage system at the front and a drainage gap at the back. These areas are specifically designed to allow rainwater to drain out of the bins, but they will also drain any other liquid (like paints and solvents). Please do not put full paint cans or other liquids into the containers (see "Landfills and Retricted Items" under the "Our Services" menu heading) |
|
How long can I have the container? |
You can have a container onsite as long as you need one. What we're looking for is a reasonable turnover rate. Because DumpRunner charges a flat fee for usage, and does not charge a daily rental fee for our containers, we ask that clients keep this in mind when using our bins. As a rule of thumb, we like to see an average turnover of 10 days between lifts, but this number has alot to do with the amount of business we are doing with that particular customer. Just call us if you have any concerns. |

But company XYZ also has 12 yard containers and they're less per load. |
Are they? Not every 12 yd container is the same size. There are plenty of "12 yard" containers out there that are actually 10.6 yard containers. How is that you ask? Just compare the inside dimensions...
Volume = L x W X H
1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet
DumpRunner 12 Yd Container dimensions
12' L x 6' W x 4.5' H = 324 cu ft = 12 cu yd
Competitor 12 Yd Container dimensions
12' L x 6' W x 4' H = 288 cu ft = 10.6 cu yd
That 0.5' height differential makes an impact. |
|
Do you provide the labour to load the containers? |
DumpRunner's containers are "self load", meaning they are left on site for a client to load at their liesure. If you require someone to load the material for you, we can recommend which companies to choose, based on your needs. Keep in mind that hand loading costs more than just renting a container. |
|
Can I rent your container to move my belongings? |
No. DumpRunner is not a moving service. Our containers are strictly for waste material. |
|
What is the strangest thing you've ever hauled in your trucks? |
Tumbleweeds...countless hundreds of them! We packed them in one of our trucks so tight that they would not slide out at the landfill, so our crew member ended up using a pitchfork to bale them out. Once out of the truck, the compressed tumbleweeds immediately expanded back to their original size. Unfortunately, it was an extremely windy day at the landfill, and well, let’s just say an entire army of tumbleweeds started rolling around attacking vehicles, people, equipment etc! It was quite simply a sight to behold! |
